Kanjhawala Hit-And-Run Case: 11 Cops On PCR Duty Suspended

New Delhi: A total of 11 policemen of Rohini district deployed on route at Police Control Rooms (PCRs) and pickets were suspended in connection with the Kanjhawala hit-and-run case.

20-year-old Anjali was dragged by car for 12 km on January 1 in Kanjhawala.

This comes a day after the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) asked the Delhi Police to suspend officers present in three PCR vans, which were deployed on New Year’s day, with immediate effect as they failed to respond to calls notifying the hit-and-run incident, sources told India Today.

On January 1, Anjali, who worked at an event management company, was returning home when her scooty was hit by a Baleno car. Anjali’s leg was caught in the left front wheel of the car, as per the forensics report, and she was dragged for 12 kilometres.

Anjali’s body was found in the Kanjhawala area of Delhi, with her clothes ripped off. Her body had burn injuries due to being dragged by the car. As per the autopsy report, Anjali’s skull was fractured, her brain matter missing and ribs exposed.

Five men were arrested hours after the hit-and-run incident. The accused have been charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder, causing death by negligence and criminal conspiracy.
