5-Year-Old Dies After Falling Under Wheels Of Chariot At Kerala Temple

Kollam: A tragic incident marred the ‘Chamayavilakku’ festival at Kottankulangara temple in Kerala’s Kollam, as a five-year-old girl lost her life in a dreadful accident. The unfortunate event occurred late Sunday night around 11:45 pm, casting a shadow over the festive atmosphere.

According to reports, the young girl slipped from her father’s grasp amidst the chaos of the festival. Tragically, a section of the ceremonial chariot passed over her, causing fatal injuries. Despite immediate efforts to rush her to the nearest hospital, the child succumbed to her injuries.

Authorities swiftly responded to the situation, with police registering a case of unnatural death. The girl’s body has been sent for postmortem examination to ascertain the exact circumstances of her demise.

The ‘Chamayavilakku’ festival holds significant cultural importance in Kerala, marked by men dressing as women to offer prayers and participate in the festivities. However, this year’s celebrations were overshadowed by the heartbreaking loss of the young girl.
