Indian Army Soldier Abducted and Killed in Manipur

Imphal: An Indian Army soldier, Sepoy Serto Thangthang Kom, was abducted from his residence in Manipur on Saturday and found dead on Sunday. The incident occurred in the Imphal West district, and the body was found in the neighbouring Imphal East district.

Sepoy Kom, who was on leave, was taken from his home in Imphal West district on Saturday, and regrettably, his lifeless body was discovered this morning.

Kom was abducted by three unidentified armed men around 10 AM on Saturday. His 10-year-old son, the sole witness, recounted that the intruders placed a firearm against his father’s head and forcefully escorted him into a white vehicle.

Kom’s body was found at Khuningthek village in the Imphal East district on Sunday. He had a single bullet wound to his head.

Kom was on leave when he was abducted. He is survived by his wife, daughter, and son.

The Army has condemned the incident and assured that the last rites will be conducted according to the family’s wishes. An Army team has also been dispatched to provide support to the grieving family.
