EAM Jaishankar Slams Pak’s Terror Links Ahead of Bilawal Bhutto’s India Visit

During his visit to Panama, India’s External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar slammed Pakistan over cross-border terrorism. He reiterated that India has always delivered on the commitment not to encourage such practices.

Jaishankar’s statement related to Pakistan’s terror links comes at a time when Pakistan Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is scheduled to visit India in May to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) meeting.

“It is very difficult for us to engage with a neighbour who practices cross-border terrorism against us. We have always said that they have to deliver on the commitment not to encourage, sponsor, and carry out cross-border terrorism. We continue to hope that one day we would reach that stage,” S Jaishankar said in a press meet in Panama.

It may be noted that alleged Pakistan-sponsored terrorists attacked an army vehicle in Poonch a few hours after Pakistan announced that its foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would lead a delegation to India for an SCO summit in May.

Jaishankar arrived in Panama City for a two-day visit on Monday.
