Kanjhawala Horror: 11 Delhi Cops Suspended for Alleged Negligence during Duty

New Delhi: Eleven personnel of Delhi police were suspended for negligence over the death of a woman who was dragged by car on December 31 night, informed Delhi Police authorities on Friday.

Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had directed Delhi Police authorities to take disciplinary action against the police personnel, who were on duty on that fateful night of Kanjhawala horror. The ministry had recommended the suspension of Delhi Police personnel posted in three PCR vans and two pickets deployed on the night. It was alleged that they failed to respond to calls informing them about the hit-and-run incident.

The MHA also directed the city police to serve show-cause notices to the supervisory officers of the PCR vans and police pickets for their alleged dereliction of duties.

The MHA has also directed the Delhi Police to ensure the stringent possible punishment for the accused persons, who were involved in the Kanjhawala incident. A 20-year-old woman driving scooter was hit by a car and dragged to death. Stuck to the wheel of the car, the victim was dragged several kilometers, causing her painful death.
