Rare Saligram Rocks for Sri Ram’s Idol Reach Ayodhya from Nepal

Ayodhya: Two rare Saligram rocks from which the idol of Lord Sri Ram will be carved out for the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple reached Uttar Pradesh’s Ayodhya at night on Wednesday.

The saints of Ayodhya will ritualistically felicitate and dedicate these two Dev Shilas on Thursday.

According to Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, these two Shaligram rocks are around 60 million years old. One rock weighs 26 tonnes, while the other is 14 tonnes.

Both Saligram rocks were found in the Gandaki river at a place close to Muktinath in Nepal’s Mustang district.

The idol of Ramlala or Lord Rama in his child form will be carved from these Saligram rocks to be placed in the sanctum sanctorum of the Ram Temple. This temple is expected to be ready for inauguration by the Makar Sankranti festival on January 14 next year.
