ASHA gang raped in Paradip; prime accused detained

Paradip: In yet another incident of crime against women, an Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) has been gang raped by four youths near Nehru Bangla here.

The incident which took place on Friday night came to light on Saturday after the victim lodged a complaint to Paradip Adarsh Police on Saturday.

As per the complaint, the ASHA was en-route to meet the local ANM in some officials work when the accused intercepted his bicycle near Nehru Bangala at around 7.30 PM and dragged into their red car. After taking the victim to a forested area they outraged her modesty.

She was dumped by the youths in Nua Bazaar area post the heinous act.

After the survivor somehow reached her home and reported the matter to family a police complaint was lodged.

Later, Paradip Adarsh Police launched a probe and succeeded in detaining the prime accused. His medical examination was also conducted with the survivor subsequently.

A manhunt has been launched by police with the engagement of dog squad of late to trace the other accused.
