New Dussehra Guidelines: Cultural Events to Continue Till Midnight in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police in Odisha’s capital has released a new set of guidelines for Dussehra celebrations. These guidelines were established during a coordination meeting organized by the Commissionerate Police.

One notable change in the guidelines is that Durga Puja committees are now allowed to conduct cultural events until midnight, compared to the previous year’s limit of 10 PM. Additionally, this year, these committees have been advised to avoid playing high-decibel music during the immersion procession.

To streamline the process for Puja committees, the Commissionerate Police has introduced a single-window system for issuing licenses.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Prateek Singh emphasized the police’s commitment to ensuring a smooth Dussehra festival in the capital city. He urged Puja committees to adhere to the guidelines and assured that traffic management would be a priority. The entire city will be under 24/7 CCTV surveillance.

In preparation for the festival, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has allocated Rs 5.35 crore for road and drainage system improvements in the city.
