Toy Gun-Wielding Youth Steals Car From Brother-In-Law in Odisha, Arrested

Bhubaneswar: In an incident that unfolded in the Odisha capital, a young individual’s fervent desire to own an SUV took a criminal turn, leading to his arrest by the Airfield police.

The youngster, identified as Rudra Prasad Mohanty, was arrested today on charges of armed robbery involving a Maruti Brezza, which he allegedly stole from his brother-in-law (sister’s husband) at gunpoint the previous day.

Law enforcement authorities successfully intercepted Mohanty while he was en route from the capital city to Berhampur, culminating in the seizure of the stolen vehicle, according to sources familiar with the matter.

Subsequent investigations revealed that Mohanty had meticulously planned the carjacking from his own relative. Notably, he employed a toy gun in the commission of the crime, as disclosed by a police official.
