Woman Critical After Alleged Stabbing by Husband in Odisha’s Rayagada

Rayagada:  In a distressing incident on Sunday, a woman, a resident of Nadi Sahi village in Rayagada district, suffered severe injuries in an alleged stabbing by her husband. The victim is currently in critical condition and has been admitted to Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.

Reports suggest that a dispute between the victim, identified as Basanti Behera and the accused husband, named Pradeep Behera escalated into a heated argument, culminating in Pradeep stabbing his wife with a knife. Basanti sustained multiple injuries, including wounds to her stomach and hand.

Pradeep Behera is currently on the run, and Rayagada police have initiated an investigation into the incident. Neighbours acted promptly, rushing Basanti to the hospital for immediate medical attention.

“We don’t know the exact reason behind the assault. Basanti has sustained serious injuries in her belly and hand. After we came to know about the incident, we immediately brought her to the hospital,” stated the victim’s sister-in-law, Minakshi Behera.

The motive behind the attack is yet to be determined, and Rayagada police are actively working to unveil the circumstances leading to this shocking incident.
