Rahul Gandhi Blows Flying Kiss in Parliament, BJP Women MPs File Complaint

New Delhi: Union Minister and BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje, along with other women members of the party, have lodged a formal complaint with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla against Rahul Gandhi. They accuse him of displaying ‘indecent’ behaviour and ‘inappropriate’ gestures towards Union Minister Smriti Irani during a parliamentary session.

The complaint, which bears the signatures of 21 BJP women members, alleges that Rahul Gandhi blew a flying kiss at BJP MPs while exiting the Lok Sabha while Smriti Irani was addressing the House. The incident reportedly occurred on February 8, 2023, after Rahul Gandhi’s speech in the no-confidence motion debate.

Shobha Karandlaje said that such conduct has never been witnessed within the parliamentary setting and that it is a “serious matter” that needs to be investigated. She urged the Speaker to take strict action against Rahul Gandhi for his behaviour.

Smriti Irani, the Union Minister of Women and Child Development, has also condemned Rahul Gandhi’s action, labelling it as “misogynistic” and “obscene.” She said that such behaviour demonstrates Rahul Gandhi’s lack of respect for women.

The complaint against Rahul Gandhi has sparked a political controversy, with the BJP and the Congress trading barbs over the issue. The BJP has accused Rahul Gandhi of being disrespectful to women, while the Congress has dismissed the complaint as “politically motivated.”

It remains to be seen what action, if any, will be taken by the Lok Sabha Speaker against Rahul Gandhi. However, the complaint against him has certainly put him in the spotlight and has raised questions about his conduct in the House.
