Popular messaging app, WhatsApp has introduced an enhanced Chat Lock feature with a Secret Code option, providing users with an extra layer of privacy for their sensitive conversations. This new feature allows users to hide locked chats from plain sight, making it ideal for situations when sharing their phones or in the event of unauthorized access.
Password-Protected Chats for Enhanced Security
The Secret Code for Chat Lock allows users to password-protect specific chats, adding a layer of security to their confidential conversations. These locked chats remain hidden from the main chat list and can only be accessed by entering the designated secret code. This feature significantly enhances the overall security of the WhatsApp messaging platform.
Activating and Using the Secret Code
To activate the Secret Code, users can follow these simple steps:
- Navigate to the list of locked chats.
- Tap the three-dot menu.
- Select Chat lock settings.
- Toggle Hide locked chats.
Once enabled, the locked chats will disappear from the main chat window. To access these hidden chats, users can either enter the secret code in the search bar or use fingerprint/Face ID authentication. Locked chats will remain visible until the app is closed.
Option to Restore Original Chat Lock
For users who prefer not to hide their locked chats, the original Chat Lock feature remains available. To restore this option, simply follow these steps:
- Access locked chats.
- Tap the three-dot menu.
- Select Chat lock settings.
- Toggle Hide locked chats off.
Gradual Rollout and Future Enhancements
The Secret Code for Chat Lock is currently rolling out to WhatsApp users globally. While there is no official confirmation yet, this feature may be extended to WhatsApp for Desktop in the future.
