Rahul Dravid Clears the Air On Indian Cricket Team Coaching Contract Duration

Mumbai: Indian cricket team head coach Rahul Dravid clarified on Thursday that he has not formally signed any papers confirming the duration of his contract extension with Team India. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently announced the extension of contracts for Dravid and the support staff of Team India (Senior Men) after productive discussions.

Although the official statement from BCCI did not disclose the contract duration for Dravid and the support staff, he mentioned, “It’s announced officially, I haven’t signed anything yet, let the papers come officially from the BCCI.” The extension also includes batting coach Vikram Rathour, fielding coach T Dilip, and bowling coach Paras Mhambrey.

Dravid’s second stint with Team India is set to begin with the South Africa tour from December 10, featuring three ODIs and T20Is each, followed by two Tests starting December 26. This will be followed by a five-match Test series against England at home and the ICC T20 World Cup in June in West Indies/USA.

Dravid took over as head coach after Ravi Shastri following the disappointing ICC T20 World Cup campaign in 2021. Initially appointed for a two-year term, his contract ended with India’s runners-up finish in the recently concluded ICC Cricket World Cup at home.
