“No One Is Bigger Than Game”: Kapil Dev Backs BCCI’s Stricter Stance on Domestic Cricket

Mumbai: Legendary Indian cricketer Kapil Dev has commended the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for their recent decision to enforce stricter guidelines regarding national players’ involvement in domestic cricket. This commendation follows the exclusion of Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer from the BCCI’s central contracts due to their non-compliance with the directive to participate in the Ranji Trophy.

Kapil Dev expressed his support for the BCCI’s move, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing domestic cricket. He highlighted the significance of established players contributing to the development of the game at the grassroots level.

The former captain stressed the duty of international players to actively engage in state-level matches, which not only aids in the growth of domestic talent but also acknowledges the efforts of state associations in nurturing players.

This development has sparked various reactions, with former player Irfan Pathan suggesting discrepancies in the enforcement of these regulations among different players. However, Kapil Dev reaffirmed the necessity of such measures, stating that no individual should be considered greater than the country.
