1 Dead, 16 Injured as Over Crowded AutoRickshaw falls Off Culvert in Koraput

Koraput: One person was killed and 16 others were injured when the autorickshaw on which they were travelling overturned and fell off a culvert in Koraput district on Tuesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Dasi Muduli. All the injured were admitted to Dasmanthpur Community Health Centre (CHC). Five of them were shifted to the Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital, Koraput, as their condition was serious.

All victims of the accident were from the Baragachha village under Pindapodar panchayat of Dasmanthpur block. They were returning after watching a cultural festival organised on the occasion of Dola Purnima.

It is alleged that the auto driver dozed off and lost control of the vehicle, causing the mishap.

On being informed, police reached the spot and launched an investigation into the incident. The driver of the autorickshaw is also injured.
