3 male Cheetahs Quarantined in Kuno National Park

Bhopal: Three male cheetahs in the Kuno National Park were transferred to quarantine enclosures, the Madhya Pradesh wildlife department said on Wednesday. But the reason behind this was not declared.

According to the Madhya Pradesh wildlife department, a male cheetah named Pavan (Oban) was punt in quarantine on July 14. On Wednesday, two more cheetahs Gaurav (Elton) and Shaurya (Freddy) were quarantined.

As per reports, these three cheetahs have developed lesions under their neck collars. To treat them they are being kept in quarantine.

Last week, two male cheetahs died in Kuno National Park because of suspected septicemia (blood poisoning) caused by infections in lesions in wounds caused by their collars.

The Union environment ministry had brought eight cheetahs from Namibia and 12 from South Africa for the project that seeks to wild wild cheetah population in India. Five of the 20 cheetahs from Africa and three of the four cubs born in India have died since March.
