6 Maoists Including A Female cadre Killed in Encounter With Security Forces in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: Six Maoists including a woman cadre were killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Wednesday.

Anti-Maoist operations are continuing in the area in the jungles of Chikurbhatti and Pusbaka villages, where the encounter occurred.

Acting on an intelligence report about the presence of naxalites, a team of District Reserve Guard (DRG), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and its elite unit CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) were sent for an operation. The Maoists opened fire which resulted in a gunfight. After the exchange of fire stopped, bodies of six Maoists, including a woman, were recovered from the spot.

The bodies of Maoists are yet to be identified. Combing operation is underway in the jungle.

Bijapur district is part of the Bastar Lok Sabha constituency which will go to polls on April 19.
