At Least 10 Killed as SUV Falls into Gorge in Jammu & Kashmir

Srinagar: At least ten people lost their lives when an SUV skidded off the Jammu-Srinagar national highway and fell into a gorge in the Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir in the wee hours of Friday.

The ill-fated vehicle was travelling to Jammu from Srinagar. According to police sources, the SUV fell into a 300-feet deep gorge at the Battery Cheshma area at around 1.15 am.

Officials confirmed that ten people have died in this accident. All bodies were recovered despite the continuing rains by the local police and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel.

Two of the deceased were identified as Balwan Singh (47), who was driving the vehicle and Vipin Mukhiya Bhairagang of West Champaran district of Bihar.
