Mumbai: Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) has made a triumphant return to iOS and Android platforms in India after being banned for nearly a year.
The highly popular battle royale shooter was relaunched by developers Krafton on May 29, accompanied by certain playtime restrictions.
As the game enters its second life in India, it is taking centre stage in an exciting esports tournament hosted by Skyesports, a prominent esports and gaming venture. This tournament, named the Skyesports Champions Series, boasts an impressive prize pool of Rs. 25 lakh.

Scheduled to commence on June 9 and run until June 18, the BGMI tournament will kick off at 1:00 pm IST and will be live-streamed on the Skyesports YouTube channel.
Competitive BGMI tournaments had been put on hold since the game was banned in India in July 2022. However, Shiva Nandy, the CEO of Skyesports, expressed optimism last August, assuring fans that the ban on BGMI was temporary and the game would eventually return.
The relaunched version of BGMI incorporates daily time limits to address concerns about gaming addiction. The latest update introduces a new map inspired by a tropical island resort, along with exciting in-game events and updates to classic maps. Playtime restrictions will be enforced based on the age of players, with minors limited to three hours of gameplay per day and adults permitted to play for up to six hours.
