Despite a setback in the first Test in Hyderabad, where they lost by a narrow margin of 28 runs, India showcased resilience, clinching victories in the subsequent matches held in Vizag, Rajkot, Ranchi, and Dharamsala. This series triumph elevated India to the pinnacle of the ICC Test Team Rankings with 122 rating points, surpassing Australia (117) and England (111).
India’s remarkable consistency extends beyond Tests, as they lead the rankings in all formats of the game. In ODIs, India boasts 121 rating points, closely followed by Australia with 118 points. Similarly, in T20Is, India holds a commanding position with 266 rating points, while England trails with 256 points.
However, India’s reign at the top of the Test rankings was short-lived, as a drawn series against South Africa saw them slip to second place, allowing Australia to reclaim the top position after a comprehensive series win against Pakistan.
With this convincing series 4-1 win, India further solidified their position as a dominant force in Test cricket.
