‘Sextortion’ Through Gay Dating App, 6 Arrested in Kanpur

Lucknow: UP police busted a ‘sextortion’ gang that was running its operation through a gay dating App in Kanpur and arrested six persons.

The accused were luring victims through fake profiles on the gay dating app ‘Blued’.

They were indulging in homosexual activities with the victims and were shooting secret videos of them. Then the victims were blackmailed with the threat of videos being circulated on social media.

The gang was taking away valuables and money from the bank accounts of victims through UPI transactions.

The racket came to the fore when one of the victims preferred to complain to the police. A case was registered at the Kalyanpur Police Station

An investigation led to the arrest of members of the ‘gay ‘sextortion’ gang.  Five of the arrested persons were 20 to 22 years old, while another was only 19 years of age.

The police also seized five mobile phones, a laptop, nine ATM cards from various banks, and a police uniform from the arrested persons.
