Telangana Governor Soundararajan Resigns from Post, May Contest as BJP Candidate

Hyderabad: Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, who was also holding the additional charge as Lt Governor of Puducherry, resigned from her post on Monday.

She sent her resignation letter to the President of India.

According to sources, she resigned from the post to make a reentry into electoral politics.

Soundararajan was the BJP president of Tamil Nadu till 2019. In September 2019, she was appointed as the governor of Telangana. She was given additional charge of L-G of Puducherry following the removal of Kiran Bedi.

Soundaearajan is the daughter of veteran Congressman Kumari Ananthan. She hails from the influential Nagar community.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, she was defeated by DMK’s Kanimozhi in Thoothukudi. She is likely to be fielded as a BJP candidate during the coming Lok Sabha polls.
