Honour Killing: 2 Men Kill Sister Over Interfaith Relationship in UP

New Delhi: Two men allegedly throttled their sister to death and disposed of her body in a canal in Ghaziabad of Uttar Pradesh. According to police sources, it was a case of honour killing as the accused were opposed to the victim’s romantic relationship with a man from another community.

The body has not been recovered yet from the canal. This gruesome murder came to the fore when a police patrol team spotted the two men on Saturday evening in Muradnagar. As their activities were suspicious, they were interrogated by the policemen.

The two men, identified as Sufiyan and his cousin Mahtab, revealed that they had throttled their sister to death by a gamcha and had thrown her body in the Gangnahar canal. Sufiyan is from Roorkee in Uttarakhand and his uncle’s son Mahtab is from Muzaffarnagar.

Recently they came to know about their sister Sheeba’s relationship with a man from another community. According to them, as they were opposed to her relationship, they took her near the Ghaziabad canal, choked her to death and threw the body into the water.

Police have recovered Sheeba’s clothes, sandals and the gamcha used to choke her from the canal. But the body has not been found.
