Man Strangled to Death by Wife & Her Lover in Deogarh Dist

Bhubaneswar: A woman and her paramour were arrested in Deogarh district for killing her husband by the personnel of the Laimura police station on Wednesday.

The man identified as 32-year-old Umakanta Bagh was strangled to death by his wife Arati Bagh and her lover Chandramani Sunani. Both have been arrested. Umakant was missing from his village under Tileibani tehsil in Deogarh since November.

According to police sources, Arati and Umakanta have two sons. Chandramani is the brother-in-law (elder sister’s husband) of Arati. Chandramani Sunani is also married with two sons. Arati and Chandramani were having an illicit relationship, which was the reason behind her tussle with her husband Umakanta.

On November 27, Arati called Chandramani to her house and later they strangled Umakant to death. Initially, they buried the body in a pit at the house. On December 16, they exhumed the body and threw it in a nearby canal in Bhaluguha village in Deogarh district.

Some locals spotted the body and informed the police.

Investigation by police led to the arrest of the accused.
