28 India Flights Cancelled as Rain, Storm Cause Havoc in Dubai

Heavy rain and storm have caused travel chaos in Dubai. As per reports 28 India flights have been cancelled because of it.

Recent heavy rain and storm have widespread flooding in the desert country. The Dubai airport was also flooded by rain water. Because of it several flights were either delayed or diverted.

According to Dubai airport authorities, over 500 flights – both inbound and outbound – have been diverted or cancelled. According to Indian aviation authorities 15 flights bound for Dubai and 13 flights to India have been cancelled.

The impact of the storm extended beyond Dubai as entire UAE and neighbouring Bahrain experienced heavy rains and storm.

Schools have been closed in UAE as storms, including hail, are forecasted for Wednesday. The storms also hit Oman killing 18 people.

It was the highest rainfall since records began in 1949, before the formation of the UAE in 1971.
