5 Elephants Including 2 Calves Electrocuted in Jharkhand’s East Singhbhum Dist

Ranchi: Five wild elephants including two calves died of electrocution in Jharkhand’s East Singhbhum district on Monday night. According to forest officials, this mishap occurred when an elephant herd came in contact with a high-voltage live wire hanging low near Beniasai village in the copper township of Musabani. Receiving information, forest officials rushed to the spot and drove away four more elephants of the same herd which were still there near the bodies of elephants.

The administration immediately directed power supply authorities to fix live electric wires at a height as per guidelines in forest areas, without delay.
