436 Suicides by Central Armed Forces Personnel in Past 3 Yrs

New Delhi: A total of 436 personnel of the Central Armed Police Forces committed suicide in the last three years, stated Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said on Wednesday.  Central Armed Police Forces include the BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, NSG, and Assam Rifles.

Nityananda Rai said in Rajya Sabha remedial measures were being initiated to check the suicidal tendency among the personnel of Central Armed Police Forces. He informed that a task force has been set up to identify relevant risk factors as well as relevant risk groups and suggest remedial measures for the prevention of suicides and fratricides in CAPFs.  The report of the task force is under preparation.

In 2022, a total of 135 personnel committed suicide, their number was 157 in 2021, and 144 in 2020.
