Amit Shah’s Odisha Visit on June 17 Deferred for Cyclone Biparjoy

Bhubaneswar: Because of the possible devastating effect of cyclone Biparjoy in Gujarat, Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s scheduled visit to Odisha on June 17 has been deferred. Cyclone Biparjoy is expected to have its landfall near Jakhau Port in Gujarat on Thursday.

Odisha state BJP general secretary Prithviraj Harichandan said as the Home Minister is extremely busy in monitoring the preparations to meet after effect of the cyclone, his Odisha visit on June 17 has been postponed.

Shah was to attend programmes of the BJP to mark nine years of Modi government in Dhenkanal, Kendrapara and Cuttack. These were part of the month-long Maha Jansampark campaign of the saffron party.

New dates of Shah’s visit to Odisha would be declared after the cyclone situation in Gujarat gets normal, Harichandan said.

But BJP national president J P Nadda would visit Kalahandi as per the schedule on June 22.
