Encounter Between Police, Maoists in Dantewada Dist of Chhattisgarh

Raipur: An encounter between police and Naxals occurred in the Bacheli police station area under the Dantewada district in Chhattisgarh on Wednesday night. Security personnel intercepted a group of Maoists trying to set fire to a JCB machine and a truck used for doubling the railway track in the area.

Combing operation has been intensified in the area to track down the leftist vagrants. A JCB machine used in railway track doubling work and a truck used to transport iron ore were partially damaged in the arson attempt by the Maoists. Taking advantage of the darkness of the night, the miscreants escaped into the jungle.

On Monday, one woman Naxal was killed in an encounter with the police in the forests in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district. The police had also recovered 12-bore rifles. On March 19-20 night, a dozen vehicles engaged in PMGSY road construction work in the Kanker district of Chhattisgarh were set ablaze by a group of Naxals.
