Gunfight between Naxals and Security Forces in Chhattisgarh

Raipur: An exchange of fire occurred between security forces and armed Naxals in the jungles of Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh. According to reports this gunfight happened during a joint operation anti-Maoist operation by personnel of CoBRA and the Special Task Force (STF).

According to sources, the locals heard several explosions and gunshots in the border areas of Bijapur and Sukma districts of Chhattisgarh during the time of the encounter.

Commenting on the gunfight, IG Bastar, P Sundarraj, said there was an exchange of fire between Maoists and security forces in the Basaguda-Pamed-Usor tri-junction area of Bijapur district. He informed that the security forces were safe. Search operations continued in the area, so more details were not disclosed.
