Man Fall Prey To Online Fraud In Jharsuguda, Losses Rs 20L 

Jharsuguda: A man allegedly fell prey to cyber fraud and lost Rs 20 lakh over the delivery of Shirdi Sai Baba’s prasad in Jharsuguda district.

The victim has been identified as M Venkatachalapati Rao of Muchabahal area.

According to reports, Rao received a phone call on June 9 from a person who introduced himself as an employee of a delivery company. The person told Rao to send him Rs 5 through an online money transfer to receive the prasad.

Following the steps mentioned by the caller, Rao clicked on the link sent by the caller to transfer the amount as he earlier placed an order for the Prasad. However, the prasad didn’t arrive. Moreover, Rs 20 lakh got deducted from his bank account in multiple phases between June 9 and June 12.

With no option left, Rao approached the police in this regard.

A case has been registered in this connection while further probe was underway.
