One Terrorist Killed as Security Forces Foil Pak Infiltration Attempt in Kashmir

Srinagar: An infiltration attempt by Pakistani terrorists was foiled by security personnel in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district. One terrorist was killed during the operation, J&K officials said on Thursday.

Search operations continued in the area to track down any other infiltrators. A joint operation by Indian Army and Kashmir police thwarted this attempt of Pak terrorists to enter India.

According to sources, the infiltrators tried to enter Kashmir on Wednesday night. Based on intelligence reports regarding this infiltration received by the Kupwara police, a joint team of the Army and police intercepted the infiltrating group in the Saidpora forward area.

The joint team neutralized one infiltrator. The search is still going on. The identity of the slain infiltrator has not been ascertained.

In recent months there has been a significant drop in ceasefire violations by Pakistan. But a number of Pakistan-based terrorists are reported to be trying to enter Kashmir with nefarious intentions. According to security personnel, Pakistan is still grooming terror infrastructure across the border and terrorists are being sent to infiltrate India.
