Homeguard Crushed to Death by Unknown Vehicle in Keonjhar

Keonjhar: A homeguard serving Odisha Police was mowed down by an unidentified vehicle on the Deogaon bridge under Ghasipura police station limits in Keonjhar district on Thursday morning.

The deceased is Suresh Rout, posted at Ghasipura police station. Receiving information personnel of Ghasipura police station reached the spot and recovered the body of the home guard. The body was sent to Anandapur sub-divisional hospital for autopsy.

According to police sources, on Wednesday the ill-fated homeguard along with a colleague was deployed at an ATM counter in Deogaon market. An investigation is on to find out why Suresh had come to the bridge where he met with the accident. The driver of the accident-causing vehicle also preferred to escape from the spot without taking the injured homeguard to the hospital, because of which he died on the spot.

Police are trying to find out the accident-causing vehicle and its driver. The deceased homeguard is survived by his wife and a four-year-old son.
