AIIMS Bhubaneswar and SVNIRTAR Collaborate for Enhanced Rehabilitation Care & Research

Bhubaneswar: AIIMS Bhubaneswar and SVNIRTAR Cuttack have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance academic, research, and comprehensive rehabilitation care. The MoU was signed by the executive director of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, Ashutosh Biswas, and the director of SVNIRTAR, P.P. Mohanty.

The collaboration aims to improve healthcare and research in specialized areas through the referral of patients between the two institutes. This includes patients from departments such as Neurology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Burn and Plastic Surgery, Pediatrics, and Medicine, as well as SVNIRTAR departments like Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, and Orthopedics.

The scope of rehabilitation care will be expanded to other patient groups, including Cardiovascular, Mental, and Cancer patients. The collaboration also intends to develop short-term academic programs, fellowship opportunities, collaborative research, and various events such as symposia, workshops, seminars, and conferences. These initiatives will train students from both institutions.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has been supportive of such partnerships to enhance healthcare delivery. The collaboration aims to focus on human resource development in the areas of rehabilitation, tertiary prevention, biomedical engineering, and technology. Additionally, academic credit-sharing mechanisms will be developed based on the provisions of the NEP 2020.

SVNIRTAR is known for providing a wide range of rehabilitative care, including Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, speech therapy, Prosthetics & Orthotics. Through this collaboration, SVNIRTAR will gain exposure to acute care at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, facilitating early-stage programming and initiation of rehabilitation facilities.

This collaboration between AIIMS Bhubaneswar and SVNIRTAR Cuttack aims to advance rehabilitation care, research, and academic opportunities. It is expected to benefit patients and contribute to the development of healthcare in the region.
