Balasore: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the site of the tragic triple train accident in Balasore, Odisha. The incident occurred when one of the coaches derailed, leading to a collision involving three trains on Friday night. The two express trains involved were the Bengaluru-Howrah Express and the Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express, along with a goods train.
The accident resulted in over 288 reported deaths and more than 900 individuals injured.
PM Modi will also visit injured individuals at the hospital in Balasore, showing his support and concern for their well-being. The nearby hospitals in the surrounding districts have been put on alert to handle the influx of casualties.
In response, Prime Minister Modi called for a high-level meeting with railway officials to address the situation and ensure appropriate measures are taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
Rescue operations are currently underway, with various emergency response teams deployed to the scene. Three National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) units, four Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force units, over 15 fire rescue teams, 30 doctors, 200 police personnel, and 60 ambulances have been mobilized to provide assistance.
Authorities continue to work diligently to provide aid and support to those affected by this tragic train accident, and further updates will be made available as the situation unfolds.
