Contractual Labourer Electrocuted to Death While Working at Jajpur CHC

Jajpur: In a tragic incident, a labourer lost his life due to electrocution at the Jajpur Road Community Health Centre (CHC) in the Jajpur district. The deceased has been identified as Sheikh Maiddun, a resident of the Hooghly area in West Bengal.

According to sources, a contractual firm had been employed to handle drainage at the CHC. This firm had enlisted labourers, including Maiddun, for the task. Tragedy struck when Maiddun was attempting to connect a motor pump to the main power supply. An electric shock proved fatal, causing him to collapse.

His co-workers responded swiftly upon hearing Maiddun’s distress cries. They rushed him to the CHC, where doctors pronounced him dead. The local police were promptly informed and arrived at the scene to secure the body for postmortem examination. An investigation has been launched to uncover the exact circumstances surrounding his untimely demise.

Authorities are also delving into whether the necessary safety protocols and equipment were provided to the labourers.
