Cuttack Youth Dies While Learning To Swim In Mahanadi

Cuttack: A youth drowned in the Mahanadi river while learning to swim near Jobra barrage in Cuttack Sunday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Sohail Khan, a resident of Peera Bazar in the city.

According to sources, Salim, an Indian Army aspirant was learning swimming for two years. This morning he had gone to the academy for training, however, he went missing.

Though academy officials launched a frantic search to trace Sohail, it was in vain.

Immediately they informed the fire service officials and police personnel, who reached there and launched a rescue operation.

After hours of search, Sohil’s body was fished out by the fire service personnel.

A pal of gloom descended on the Peera Bazar locality due to the sudden demise of this youth.

Meanwhile, Police have registered a death case and sent the body to the hospital for postmortem. Further investigations are on.
