Bhubaneswar: Twin City Police Commissioner Saumyendra Kumar Priyadarsi has declared strict action against individuals involved in bursting firecrackers after 10 PM during Diwali in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

The police emphasize the prohibition of firecrackers after the specified time, allowing only green crackers. Those producing sound above 125 decibels are banned, and special squads have been formed to curb illegal activities.

The Odisha Pollution Control Board has also imposed restrictions, permitting only green crackers and prohibiting the use of firecrackers containing barium nitrate. The Supreme Court clarified that the ban on such firecrackers extends to every state, not just Delhi-NCR.

In Odisha, citizens are permitted to burst crackers between 6 am and 10 pm on Diwali. Dr. K. Murugesan, Member Secretary of the Odisha Pollution Control Board, outlined guidelines, emphasizing the ban on crackers exceeding 125 decibels and restricting activity within a 100-meter radius of educational, healthcare, and religious institutions. District administrations will form squads, including board members, to monitor compliance, with police taking action against violators.
