Balangir: A mysterious case unfolded in Balangir district as a decomposed body was discovered inside a house in Salepali village. The deceased has been identified as Rinku Meher. The local residents alerted the Balangir Town Police about a foul smell emanating from the house, leading to the shocking discovery. Upon arrival, the police found body parts that had been chopped and packed in seven carry bags inside the house. They accessed the house with the assistance of a Magistrate and recovered the decomposed remains.

According to sources, Rinku Meher had been residing in the rented house with his wife and two sons for a period of time. A few days prior, Rinku had allegedly assaulted his parents, causing severe injuries. His parents are currently receiving treatment at a medical facility in Burla. The Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Balangir, Tophan Bag, suspects that the murder was premeditated but the motive remains unknown.

SDPO Bag stated, “After receiving information from local residents, we opened the door in the presence of a Magistrate and discovered the chopped body parts. A team from the Directorate of Forensic Science Laboratory (DFSL) will soon arrive at the scene, and we will initiate an investigation into the incident. It appears that the perpetrator intended to dispose of the body parts by packing them in polythene bags but was unable to do so for some reason.”

Meanwhile, the relatives of the deceased are convinced that this is a clear case of murder and are demanding stringent action against the culprit. A relative expressed their belief that Rinku had been intentionally targeted with a sharp weapon. The community expects the perpetrator to be apprehended and justice to be served.
