Odisha-Cadre IPS Officer Sarah Sharma Appointed as CBI DIG

New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Odisha-cadre IPS Officer Sarah Sharma has been appointed as the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) by the Centre. The 2010-batch IPS Officer will serve on a deputation basis for a duration of five years, as stated in a communication from the Ministry of Home Affairs to the Odisha Government.

According to the letter, the Ministry has requested the Odisha Government to promptly release Sarah Sharma to enable her to assume her new responsibilities at the Centre.

Sarah Sharma, an IPS officer from the 2010 batch, played a crucial role in the CBI investigation into ethnic violence in Manipur in 2023. Before her assignment with the CBI, she held the position of SP (Vigilance) in Sambalpur.

Her appointment comes after her notable involvement in the aforementioned CBI probe, where she contributed to the investigation alongside two other officers from the Odisha Police.
