IMD Forecasts Thunderstorm With Lightning Across 22 Odisha Districts on September 25

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Warning for the next two days in Odisha due to prevailing weather conditions. Thunderstorms with lightning are expected to occur in 22 districts of Odisha over the next 24 hours.

The IMD regional centre has reported the likelihood of a cyclonic circulation forming over the north Andaman Sea and its vicinity on September 29th. This could lead to the development of a Low-Pressure Area over the north Andaman Sea and the adjoining eastcentral Bay of Bengal within the next 24 hours. The system is expected to move west-northwestward with a possibility of gradual intensification. Additionally, conditions are becoming favourable for the withdrawal of the Southwest Monsoon from parts of West Rajasthan within the next 24 hours.

Expect light to moderate rain and thundershowers in many parts of North Odisha and a few places in South Odisha. The highest maximum temperature recorded was 34.9°C in Chandbali, while the lowest minimum temperature was 22.0°C in Phulbani in the Odisha plains.

For Sunday (Valid up to 0830 hrs IST of 25.09.2023): Yellow Warning (Stay Updated) – Thunderstorms with lightning are highly likely in the following districts: Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, and Nuapada.

For Monday (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 25.09.2023 to 0830 hrs IST of 26.09.2023): Yellow Warning (Stay Updated) – Thunderstorms with lightning are expected in the following districts: Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, and Bargarh.
