17-year-old Student Dies by Suicide After Losing Online Game in Odisha’s Balasore

Balasore: A 17-year-old student in Odisha’s Balasore district reportedly took his own life on Friday after allegedly losing an online game. The deceased, Ashish Kumar Mallick, was a second-year Plus II student at Anantpur Saraswat College.

According to police, Ashish was found hanging from the ceiling fan in his room by his family members. He was rushed to Community Health Centre, Soro, where he was declared dead by doctors.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Ashish was addicted to online games. A relative revealed that he had recently acquired a new mobile and had been engrossed in gaming for the past two months.

The police have seized the body and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Ashish’s tragic demise.
