Railway Budget: Odisha Gets More Than It Demanded, Says Rly Min

New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: The Centre has set aside Rs 10,012 crore for the State for 2023-24 which is the highest-ever allocation for Odisha in the Rail budget.

While announcing the budget allocation, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the Odisha government had demanded Rs 8400 crore for the betterment of Railways, Rs 10,012 crore has been allocated to the State.

It is pertinent to be mentioned that, Prime Minister PM Modi has allocated more than what the Odisha government had demanded.

“280 kms of railway tracks will be laid in the state and 57 railway stations will be modernised. The Lingaraj Road Station will be developed to be used as a transit point for tourists who would arrive at Bhubaneswar airport wishing to visit the Srimandir in Puri,” informed Vaishnaw.

“Odisha government had sought 1200 crores for Khurda-Balangir railway tracks, 800 crores for Talcher-Bimalgarh, 2000 crores for Gopalpur-Rairakhol, 300 crores for extension of Nuapada-Gugupur new rail link to Therubali, 100 crores for Puri-Konark new line, 100 crores for Talcher-Angul,” he added.
