No More Queuing Under the Sun: Air-conditioned Shed to Ease Crowds at Srimandir in New Year

Puri: In a bid to alleviate the hardships faced by devotees enduring long queues under the scorching sun to enter Srimandir, a fully air-conditioned shed is being erected at the Bada Danda, also known as Grand Road. The temple administration, gearing up for the anticipated surge of visitors on New Year’s Day, is implementing various measures, with the construction of this air-conditioned facility being a notable one.

Located in front of Srimandir, spanning from Marichikote to the Temple office, the under-construction shed is equipped with several amenities for devotees, aiming to enhance their overall experience. Recognizing the challenges faced by devotees, especially the elderly, who often succumb to exhaustion during extended waiting periods, the new facility includes comfortable seating arrangements. This provision proves particularly beneficial when public darshan is temporarily halted due to internal rituals within Srimandir, allowing devotees to rest until the Lion’s Gate reopens.

The air-conditioned shed will be comprehensively monitored through CCTV surveillance, ensuring the safety and security of the devotees utilizing the facility. Puri Collector Samarth Verma expressed confidence in the arrangements made for New Year’s Day, emphasizing the devotees’ potential for a positive and comfortable experience within the air-conditioned shed.
