New Delhi: In the aftermath of the recent breach of security at the Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed concern, deeming the incident ‘unfortunate’ and ‘worrisome.’ Addressing the situation, PM Modi emphasized the gravity of the breach, stating that Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla is diligently taking necessary measures.

“The seriousness of the incident in Parliament should not be underestimated at all. Therefore, the Speaker is taking the necessary steps with utmost seriousness,” remarked Prime Minister Modi.

He highlighted ongoing investigations by relevant agencies, stressing the importance of understanding the motives behind the breach and finding effective solutions. PM Modi urged a collaborative and open-minded approach to address the issue, discouraging controversy or resistance.

The incident occurred on December 13, coinciding with the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 Parliament attacks. Two individuals, Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D, breached security by entering the Lok Sabha chamber, releasing yellow smoke and shouting slogans. Simultaneously, Amol Shinde and Neelam Devi released coloured smoke outside the premises, chanting “tanashahi nahi chalegi.” Lalit Jha, the fifth accused, allegedly circulated protest videos on social media.

Subsequent arrests were made, with Mahesh Kumawat being the sixth accused. He was apprehended for aiding Jha’s escape and maintaining contact with the other conspirators for the past two years. Kumawat also allegedly destroyed mobile phones to eliminate evidence, as per police statements on Saturday.
