Ravichandran Ashwin Reclaims Top Spot in ICC Test Bowling Rankings

New Delhi: Veteran Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has reclaimed the number one spot in the ICC Test Bowling Rankings following a stellar performance in the recently concluded five-match series against England. Ashwin’s nine-wicket haul in the final Test at Dharamsala, which India won by an innings and 64 runs, propelled him to the top of the rankings, displacing teammate Jasprit Bumrah.

This marks Ashwin’s sixth stint at the number one position, having first reached the summit in December 2015. He also finished as the series’ leading wicket-taker with 26 scalps.

India dominated the series against England, winning 4-1. Other Indian players to move up the rankings include Rohit Sharma (up five to sixth), Shubman Gill (up 11 to a career-best 20th), Kuldeep Yadav (up 15 to a career-best 16th), and Yashasvi Jaiswal (up two to eighth).

Australia’s Josh Hazlewood climbed to the number two spot after a six-wicket haul in the second Test against New Zealand. This performance helped Australia secure a 2-0 series win and solidify their second-place position in the World Test Championship table.

The ICC rankings update also saw movement in the ODI and T20I rankings. Ireland’s Harry Tector and Afghanistan’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz moved up in the ODI rankings, while Pakistan’s Muhammad Waseem and UAE’s Junaid Siddiqui progressed in the T20I rankings.
