7 Poachers Arrested With 12 Wild Animal Carcasses in Dhenkanal Dist

Dhenkanal: Seven poachers were arrested by the personnel of the Odisha Forest Department on Sunday from the Dartota area under the Birashal Forest under the Kamashyanagar Eastern Range in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district. Carcasses of 12 wild animals were seized from the arrested persons.

The forest officials also seized two motorbikes, four bicycles, and a substantial quantity of wildlife meat from them.

According to the forest department, these poachers were involved in hunting wild animals in the forest for a long time.

The arrested persons were identified as Sagar Munda, Samu Munda of Dartota village under Balikuma panchayat, Sandeep Sardar, Jagar Sardar, Suna Purti, Lakhar Munda, and Sham Sardar of Bargji village.

The poachers were nabbed while they were transporting the meat of wild animals killed by them in the protected forest.
