Martyred Odia CRPF Jawan Cremated With State Honours in Keonjhar Dist

Keonjhar: Martyred Odia CRPF Jawan Sushant Kumar Khuntia, who laid down his life in a Maoist attack in Jharkhand on Friday, was cremated with state honours at his native village Nandi Sahi in Keonjhar district on Saturday

A large crowd with tears in their eyes gathered up to offer last respects to the martyred jawan.

The martyr was given the guard of honour by CRPF at his village Nandi Sahi on bank of the Baitarani River under Anandapur Block in Keonjhar district. His last rites were performed in the presence of his family members, relatives, villagers and security personnel.

Two CRPF personnel, Sushant Khuntia and Munna Yadav were hit by bullets when a Maoist group attacked a CRPF team during a search operation in Hatiburu forests in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand on Friday.

Both injured were airlifted to a hospital in Ranchi where Khuntia breathed his last during treatment.

Khuntia joined the CRPF in 2012. He lost his father in 2022. His elder brother, who was also in the CRPF, was martyred a few months ago. His other brother has also died of cancer.

Khuntia got married on June 2 this year. His wife works as an ANM worker in Telkoi area in Keonjhar district. His ailing mother is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Bhubaneswar.
