Indo-Nepal Border Sealed For Nepal Elections

New Delhi: The Indo-Nepal border will remain sealed from midnight of November 17. This international border has been sealed for 72 hours for free and fair polling in Nepal.

Elections are to be held in Nepal on November 20. The decision to seal off the border with Nepal was taken during a high-level meeting of officials of India and Nepal. Nepal’s Election Commission had requested Indian Home Ministry for it.

Bihar and Uttar Pradesh have long borders with Nepal. Citizens of both countries do not need any passport or Visa to travel across these borders.

From Today midnight no one will be allowed to cross the Indo-Nepal border. But emergency services like ambulances, water tankers, milk tankers, fire tenders etc will be exempted.

Indians arriving in Nepal through air travel will have to produce their passport and ticket at arrival.
