10 Yrs Jail for Policeman involved in Ganja Smuggling

Malkangiri: A police constable convicted in a ganja smuggling case was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment by a sessions court in Malkangiri on Wednesday. He was arrested last year while trying to smuggle ganja.

On January 22, 2021, the convict police constable Sanjib Hira was nabbed while he was transporting the contraband by his four-wheeler. Eight quintals of marijuana was seized from his vehicle. It was intercepted by excise officials near Potrel square.

On Wednesday, the special cum sessions judge Ajanta Sarangi found the police constable Sanjib guilty and sentenced him to 10 years of imprisonment. A fine worth Rs 1 lakh was also imposed on him by the court.
